Overview
This accreditation cycle CSUCI is pursuing a TPR, a thematic pathway for reaffirmation. It is a streamlined alternative pathway for accreditation for eligible institutions deemed eligible by our accreditor WASC senior college and university Commission (WSCUC). All institutions within the CSU are accredited by this Commission. Being recognized by our accreditor as eligible for TPR is a positive evaluation of CSUCI's operations and outcomes thus far. They have already determined that our campus has demonstrated compliance with all standards through a document review, and are now giving our campus the opportunity to focus on themes we deem important to our continued success.
CSUCI’s selected theme is Gaps and Ladders, or Brechas y Escaleras in Spanish. As a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) it was important to the committee to have a bilingual theme. Within this overarching theme, the campus community identified three priorities: academic quality and student-centered infrastructure, student services, support and development, diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA).
In fall of 2021 there was a CSUCI wide survey distributed to all students, faculty staff and administrators. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected. This data was used to create discussion group or focus group scripts that were then implemented with eight different groups of students, faculty, staff and administrators in the spring of 2022. To include an even wider group for input, two virtual padlets were distributed to faculty and students that included questions from the focus groups. There were numerous meetings of an advisory committee that included representation from students, faculty staff and administrator stakeholder groups. The survey data, focus group data and padlet information were shared via email with the campus and through Academic Senate announcements and global updates. The theme and priorities were then presented to the President's Cabinet,
